Apart from the various activities you can take part in on your vacation - fishing, rafting, canopy tours etc - there are a variety of places to visit and excursions that can be taken on your visit here. With so much to offer within such a relatively small country, many vacationers take a day or 2 out of their beach routine to visit some of the jewels of this country and we highly recommend this to all our clients.
Costa Rica has a decent internal airport network, so most excursions are available to vacationers no matter where they are stationed in the country.
Visiting the various volcanoes is always a popular choice, such as Arenal, where many tours will guide you over lava flows that have only dried and cooled over the past two years. After your day's expedition, you can relax by taking a luxurious soak in a spa whose waters have been warmed by the very same volcano. Whilst in this area you can also visit the Rio Fortuna waterfall. View it from a distance to get an idea of its deafening power and then descend to its base to swim in the cool, clear water.
If peace and nature are more your thing, then spend a day in the misty and mysterious cloudforest of Monteverde in the central valley. Here you can hike through this rare and beautiful ecosystem, and afterwards snack on the delicious baked goods provided by the Quaker community located there.
Isla Tortuga is also a popular spot. A stunning beach island located in the Gulf of Nicoya, this Island is easily accessible from anywhere on the Pacific coast by boat ride.
